English As a Second Language (ESL)
The Silicon Valley Adult Education Program offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, from basic literacy to advanced levels. Classes assist students in language acquisition by developing listening, speaking, reading, writing, and basic computer application skills. We strive to make each person successful in a global society.
Prerequisite: All students will take the CASAS assessment before registering for a class.

ESL Conversation
This class will provide students with the opportunity to practice listening and speaking skills, the proper use of English grammar, vocabulary development, and practice in pronunciation. Students will discuss topics related to personal interests and current events. The class is open to students from high beginner to intermediate levels.

Adult Basic Education (ABE)
Students set their goals, and the teacher prepares an individual learning plan for each student to support those goals. Individual, small groups and whole-class lessons are integrated into the curriculum as teachers engage with their students and facilitate successful student outcomes.
Prerequisite: All students will take the CASAS basic assessment before registering for a class.

High School Diploma (HSD)
In high school diploma classes, students learn required skills and earn credits in social studies, English, science, mathematics, fine arts or foreign language, and electives to complete the 150 credits required for graduation.
Prerequisite: All students will take the CASAS basic assessment before registering for a class.

High School Equivalency (HSE)
We offer free HSE test preparation classes and testing on our campus. Our courses prepare students for five tests required for the General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Test (HiSET). High School Equivalency classes are offered in English. Students must be able to speak, read, and write English.
HSE exams are computer-based at the Regional Testing Center on the Silicon Valley Adult Education campus.
Prerequisite: All students will take the CASAS basic assessment before registering for a class.

Career Technical Education (CTE) Courses
Silicon Valley Adult Education offers 21st-century career training programs to provide students with the relevant skills for the demands of the labor market. Industry professionals teach classes that can be taken individually to meet personal goals or in sequence towards a Program Certificate. No Fee CTE Courses this Spring 2024. To allow more students to enroll, we ask that you choose only one class for sign-up. Registering for more than one course will lead to the removal of additional courses.
